2018 North Vancouver City Fest Photos

The North Vancouver City Fest comes along every Spring and helps kick off the beginning of what is always a jam packed May for us. We couldn’t think of a better way to begin the season with City Fest and have been a part of the event since we opened the shop. Flatspot Farmer, Mischa Chandler, was in town to join us and took a few photos to highlight the day! // read more

New City of North Vancouver Skate Plaza – Design Workshop

It seems Vancouver is not the only city in our local area working out the details of a new skate park. With Vancouver Plaza under fire with new developments in the area, New Westminister’s Queensborough Park is in the midst of debating their new home and it now seems the City of North Vancouver (home of our beloved City Fest) is now going to redevelop the Lonsdale Skate Park and is looking for feedback. // read more

Techslide Tuesday Sessions Heating Up for Spring

Techslide Tuesday has been happening pretty much all Winter, but it takes a special kind of masochist to throw themselves to cold pavement in the rain and in the dark. Big ups to everyone who did make it out over the darkest and wettest days of the year, you’re the real MVPs!

For those that need a little more light and warmth, the season is on it’s way and the past few weeks have been both dry and receiving of a sun-set as the session gets going. The session has been growing in numbers and lasting a bit longer. Now is definitely the time to get out and put some work in if you have any plans to hit up the Danger Bay Slide comp just a few short weeks away. Registration opened today on April 1st, not a joke!

North Vancouver City Fest 2017 Photo Recap

The 2017 North Vancouver City Fest was another epic year of fun in the sun with the youth of the North Shore!

This year we were out in full force as always and hosting the longboard race, our Learn to Stop Sessions, a new format Boarder-X course and some Dancing. We have worked with the youth of the North Shore all year to help plan this event and could not have done it without the incredible volunteers. We also could not have put on the event without the support of the City of North Vancouver, North Shore Neighborhood House, the North Shore Alliance Church and our sponsors, Cariboo Brewing, Predator Helmets, landyachtz Longboards, Sector 9 Canada and Skate Slate. // read more

North Vancouver Learn To Stop City Fest Popcorn Fundraiser

One of the things we do at Flatspot is teach people how to skate. Some basics can really help you figure out your new life on a skateboard and some tips and tricks can help you progress from there. We like to call our regular skate session ‘Lear To Stop’ because learning to stop is often a lot harder than learning to roll. Felling safe about getting off the board helps everything else come more naturally. Stopping is also going to be your first tool in an emergency, not going faster. // read more
