Flatspot Longboards – Longboard Larry

Longboard Larry is one of the longest standing and continuously innovating longboard brands. Their boards are unique, made by hand, and should probably be a part of your quiver.

We are unbelievably hyped on Longboard Larry’s latest board: The Mole. Its the brainchild of Cole Kurtz, a rad skater with a distinctive style. He can currently be found sliding around corners in a hands nose blunt. Its impressive to say the least. Another good option in that same vein of style is the Hippo.

Longboard larry is at the heart of so many huge and overarching trends in longboarding. For example – drop decks with kicktails. The DK penguin was one of the very first (slightly) dropped boards with a kick tail, and it was popularized overnight by Mr. Hutton in his infamous otang video. Drop decks with kicktails are everywhere now! That is not to say anyone was copying anyone else, but Longboard Larry planted the seed for a successful and innovative trend that stoked us all out.

The maninitee and minitee redefined stiff, and back when kyle chin and james kelly werent household names, thats what they preffered. CAUSE ITS SO GOD DAM STIFF.

But what Longboard Larry really deserves credit for is the dancer. Of course he did not invent exceptionally long boards. But the first board Adam Colton and Adam Stokowski (once known as Adam squared) were cross stepping and “chopping wood” on was a longboard larry dancer. It may not have been apparent at the time, but we wouldn’t have this current generation of dancer (for example Lofti Lamali, Ari Chamasmany)  If you haven’t watched “Make You Smile” – its a pure unadulterated kookery at its very best.
