Sector 9 has decided to once again partner on an artistic collaboration for a Bamboo Collection with French artist, The Minimalist Wave. Following a ritual process, he obsesses over the patterns of a wave crossing the ocean, as it evolves constantly. A traditionalist artist utilizing pen and ink for his drawings, his work is an invitation to find yourself in the heart of the ocean, to get lost and to discover imaginary worlds. The simple black, minimalist illustrations provide a beautiful contrast to the natural Bamboo plies, creating decks worthy of hanging in a gallery just as much as they are riding to the beach.

Nothing says Sector 9 Bamboo quite like colorful, island vibes. We wanted to revive some of our Bamboo roots (get it?… ‘cause it’s a weed) and thought someone living the island lifestyle would be ideal for creating this collection. With that in mind, we collaborated with waterman and artist Kenny Vidinich, head of OneVibe Creative Studios, which is located on the waters of Maunalua Bay in east Honolulu, O’ahu. Taking inspiration from the local flora and fauna, Kenny created some amazingly detailed and colorful illustrations that pop on the sectional black dips. We’re super stoked to bring his island paradise to your growing quiver of Bamboo shapes.

Yin and Yang. Light and Dark. Left and Right. Subtle and Forthright. The new Divided Collection embraces the idea of balance through opposition, with outward simplicity masking detail and complexity. The boards feature split Maple bottom plies for a contrast of color and lack thereof. While the black and white graphics above the wood appear relatively flat in color, they cover raised a marbled texture the pops in the light, giving these graphic a “hand.” The longer you hold one of the boards, the more detail you’ll notice, and that’s what we love.

The black Maple bottom plies are covered in subtle checkers, and clean, white lines reminiscent of the adolescence of the surf/skate scene. We’ve mixed old school (Fat Wave) with classic Sector 9 (Ledger) and topped it off with new-age performance (Dropper) for an incredibly well-rounded quiver. Details like inlayed colored Maple in the bottom ply, checkered die-cut grip and matte, white trucks take these boards to the next level.
